Artist in Residence - Agate Fossil Beds National Monument - Day 2

Day 2 – I met more of the staff today at the Monument.  They are very warm and welcoming.  The temperature today was 73° (unlike yesterday’s of 93°) with a warm breeze across the prairie.  I ventured north today for an hour or so dodging the rain on and off.  Upon arrival back at Agate, I met a very nice retired couple (from Michigan).  We talked for two plus hours over wine; when we parted we hugged each other (I think we are friends for life).  What a hoot, we meet in Nebraska when we both live in Michigan.  I had dinner in Harrison at the Longhorn (Bar & Grill) Saloon.  Reviews on the internet were very favorable for a good meal.  I was not disappointed; the Mushroom & Swiss Cheeseburger was to die for. The saloon was not busy except for a table of older women, and another of two middle aged men and Rancher Mr. Thompson.  The temperature drops at night and last I looked it was a cool 65°.
